About Stâncile Prutului
The Prut Cliffs are a chain of limestone reef-like formations, rising in the Middle Prut portion. They start at the northern border of the country (Briceni) and continue to Cobani (Glodeni). Some of them are declared monuments of nature and are protected by law. The reef stretches for about 200 km and is unique in Europe. The limestone formations that form them contain particles of coral, molluscs, shells, algae and marine animals that lived 16-20 million years ago.
