Sfîntul Apostol Andrei este, conform tradiției, primul care a adus creștinismul pe meleagurile noastre. De aceea, mai ales în zonele rurale, au existat şi înca se păstrează o multitudine de tradiţii, superstiţii şi obiceiuri în care elementul pagîn se imbină cu cel creştin.
Saint Andrew (13 December) is the one who preached the Gospel in the lands of Scythia and Thrace. It is a religious feast, in addition to which there are a number of traditional practices (some dating back to the Dacians), such as: rubbing doors and windows with garlic (to keep out evil spirits), putting wheat to sprout (to predict the next year's harvest), rituals performed by young girls to dream of their sweethearts.
